Presence.

What is “presence?”

Simply put, presence is projecting an idea or concept in such a way as to effect change by the least amount of expense, effort, and time as possible. When you see a security officer, most people think, “Oh, good, we’re safer because they are here.” Bad guys think, “Let’s go somewhere else…this target can fight back.” Think of us as sheepdogs, who by just being there, deter the wolves from attacking the sheep.

About TPS

In 2020, we realized the world had changed, in such a way that it would never go back to the way it used to be. As licensed, security professionals, our founders saw a need for a security company that could address the needs of individuals, companies and groups, and do so in a way that is effective, low-key, and results-driven. We formed TPS to fill that need. Since then, we’ve protected everybody from VIPs like US Senator Ted Cruz, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, and exposé journalist James O’Keefe to groups like the American Jewish Conservatives and private citizens.

About Us

Texas Protective Security is unique among professional security companies in that we are employee-owned and operated, that is to say that every TPS officer is a part-owner of the company. Why did we do this? Because when you own something, you take pride in it, and strive to do your best, no matter the assignment. We believe that makes our officers a cut above.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are your rates?

If you’re looking for the cheapest solution, we respectfully suggest you look elsewhere, as our rates are not the lowest in the industry. But then again, you get what you pay for. Our uniformed officer rates start at $30/hour. Plainclothes bodyguards start at $50/hour. We have a two-hour minimum, and there is a surcharge for late-night/overnight work.

How do you determine what we need?

We sit down with customers and/or prospects and perform a needs assessment. This can be simple or complex, depending on your needs. A public event may require an on-site evaluation, site maps, site security evaluations, evacuation route planning, and contingency plans. (We leave no stone unturned.) For a bodyguard escort, planning is usually less stringent, depending on circumstances. For large events, we develop a security plan, and make that a part of our charges. For smaller needs, we quote an up-front price.

Should we book uniformed or plainclothes officers?

That is entirely dependent on the details of your event. If you are concerned about individuals or groups threatening your event, we usually recommend armed, uniformed officers to project presence. For events like cocktail parties and dinners, sometimes plainclothes officers are less intrusive for your guests.

Do you offer unarmed officers?

No, we don’t. An unarmed security officer has near zero options when trouble occurs. Armed officers can fight back, or deter trouble before it happens. All our officers carry a variety of both lethal and “less-lethal” tools, and are trained to use the minimum amount of force necessary to insure compliance.
